Will Victor Boniface transfer to Chelsea? This is the question that is now of particular interest to fans of the London club. Enzo Maresca has noticed the playing qualities of the Nigerian forward and would love to have him in the blue jersey.

Victor Boniface transferred to Leverkusen in July 2023, from Belgian side Royale Union SG for just under twenty-two million euros. Meanwhile, the young Nigerian striker almost immediately began to make his mark in the Bundesliga.

It should be added that Boniface has already performed well in Belgium. However, after his transfer to the reigning German champion, he seems to have recovered.

Boniface played 23 games for Leverkusen last season, scoring 14 goals and assisting 9 others. So the transfer quickly started to pay off for Bayer.

The 23-year-old forward not only replaced Patrik Schick at the time of his injury, but his performances on the pitch even pushed him out of the starting line-up for a few games. In the new competition year, Boniface is Leverkusen’s main offensive weapon.

He has now scored three goals in four league games, and added another goal in the DFL Super Cup. It is no wonder that even the leading European clubs are starting to take notice of his name.

Boniface to Chelsea?

One such club is Chelsea in London. The latter currently has a very good Nicolas Jackson in attack, with Christopher Nkunku also ready on the bench. Needless to say, Jadon Sancho is also currently on loan at Stamford Bridge.

But according to the latest speculation, the London club’s management is looking for another forward. Leverkusen goalkeeper Victor Boniface is on the shortlist.

It must be added that the Blues were heavily linked with a number of strikers during the summer transfer window, despite having to sell players to maintain financial balance at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were very interested in Victor Osimhen, but that deal fell through.

As reported by Teamtalk, Chelsea no longer consider Osimhen to be unviable and therefore focused on the Leverkusen striker. However, Boniface is under contract at the German champions until June 2028 and according to Transfermarkt, his market value is around €40 million.

One of the main reasons why Chelsea are interested in him is the fact that he is a similar type of forward to the aforementioned Jackson. Enzo Maresca praises his speed, he is also attracted by his killer instinct in the whitewash. Anyway, the potential transfer is heading for the summer transfer window.
