Johnny Gaudreau and the other insanely sad news surrounding his death. His wife told the world at his funeral that she was expecting their third child
A tragic death and Johnny Gaudreau. You’ve probably all heard that phrase before. A skilled winger who accumulated 440 points in the best hockey league in the world and is mainly associated with the Calgary Flames. However, for the last two seasons he has been in Columbus, where he knows Jakub Voracek, who was very affected by the situation. Now, anyway, there’s another big news.

A skilled winger who accumulated 440 points in the best hockey league in the world and is mainly associated with the Calgary Flames. However, for the last two seasons he has been in Columbus, where he knows Jakub Voracek, who was very affected by the situation. Now, anyway, there’s another big news.
- Johnny Gaudreau was killed by a drunk driver
- His brother was with him, and together they were to walk his sister down the aisle
- Now comes another major news story
A story that has to happen to be believed. So many terribly sad and unfortunate coincidences that it makes one sick to one’s stomach. The unfortunate event happened near their family’s home in New Jersey on August 29. The Czech media got more information a day later.
Soon the news of Gaudreau’s death was joined by the information that the famous hockey player was killed together with his brother Matthew. This took the disaster up another level. They were cycling through a well-known neighborhood but were hit by a drunk man in an SUV who is currently in custody awaiting trial.
He admitted to police after his arrest that he had consumed 5 to 6 beers before the ride. Subsequently, the world learned from family members that the two brothers were only hours away from driving their sister down the aisle at her wedding.
Both brothers were expecting their next offspring
While it seems that the whole story couldn’t get any more tragic, the opposite is true. In fact, the funeral for both brothers was held on Monday, at which Johnny’s wife Meredith also spoke.
“John and I had the best six months of our lives as a family of four. In reality, we are a family of five,” Meredith revealed that their soon-to-be two-year-old daughter Noa and her seven-month-old brother Johnny will be getting a sibling.
“I’m nine weeks pregnant. I’m expecting our third child. It was a complete surprise, but Johnny was overjoyed when he found out. As we digested it, he looked at me and said: You’re crazy, you know that? I’m telling you, my children, you have the best father in the world. He loved you so much,” the wife of one of the world’s best hockey players of recent years teared up during the funeral.
Unfortunately, that’s not all. Brother Matthew and his wife Madeline are also due to have a baby in December. A son, Tripp, is due to be born.
An incredibly sad story that only life itself could have written. We can only wish the bereaved our sincere condolences and hope that a similar tragedy does not happen in sport or elsewhere for a very long time, ideally never again.
