- UEFA’s experts have chosen the ideal eleven for the Euros
- Spaniards play a dominant role in it
- Jamal Musiala is the only home representative
Two days after the end of this year’s European Championship, held in Germany, we already know the shape of the best eleven of the tournament. The ideal line-up was chosen by 12 UEFA technical observers.
Among them were such famous figures of world football as Fabio Capello, Rafael Benítez, Frank de Boer and David Moyes.
The committee chose a 4-3-3 formation for the ideal eleven, which was the most used in the tournament. Unfortunately, to everyone’s surprise, no Czech player appeared in the ideal line-up.
The UEFA experts opted for France and AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan in goal. The twenty-nine-year-old goalkeeper kept four clean sheets at the tournament in Germany and contributed significantly to the French team’s progress to the semi-finals.
The defence is made up of players from four nationalities. Marc Cucurella is on the left and Kyle Walker on the right. The UEFA experts put Frenchman William Saliba and Swiss Manuel Akanji in the stopper positions.
The middle line belongs completely to the Spaniards. Fabián Ruiz was a very important figure in the Spanish midfield, scoring two goals himself. Rodri, according to the head coach of the Spanish team, deserves the Ballon d’Or, while Dani Olmo scored against Georgia, Germany and France.
In attack, Spain’s Nico Williams, who scored two goals, and Lamine Yamal, a 17-year-old talent whom Luis de la Fuente was not afraid to put straight into the starting line-up. Jamal Musiala, who scored three goals for Germany, had a great tournament.
