The U.S. has made the final push and is in the quarterfinals of the Czech Hockey Championship. In Sunday’s game against Kazakhstan, the overseas team had no problems and won 10:1. Brady Tkachuk was the most successful, scoring a hat trick. Boldy scored six points (2+4)

The Americans are one of the hottest medal candidates, Kazakhstan can’t think about advancing anymore and their only concern is to make it through Monday’s save game against Poland. And that’s what it looked like on Sunday night.

Minnesota’s Matthew Boldy scored at 4.37 and from then on it was all Kazakhstan. Brock Nelson and Ottawa forward Brady Tkachuk scored twice before the end of the first period.

Boldy was on a tear in the second period

One minute and 39 seconds into the middle period, it was 5-0. Columbus forward Gavin Brindley, only 19 years old, scored his first point of the championship. By the time they went to the locker room for the second time, it was 7:0 after Boldy and Kunin’s goals.

Kazakhstan has not beaten the Americans once in the history of the rivalry. Twice, however, the Asians have taken a point from the game for losing in overtime. The overseas cannonade continued in the third 20 minutes.

First, Tkachuk completed his hat trick, only to have St. Louis worker Kevin Hayes make his debut in the Czech championship statistics. Then came the Kazakhs’ honorable hit, which came from Omirbekov’s stick. But Johnny Gaudreau countered for 10:1.

Only one last game awaits the two teams in the remaining championship schedule. The United States play Latvia and the Kazakhs take on Poland in a crucial battle to stay in the elite division.
