Significant changes in the FA Cup! From next season there will be no replays in the event of a draw

The most prestigious cup competition in England is announcing changes. From next season, the FA Cup will be played in the event of a draw without a replay. The decision was made by the local Football Association as part of a six-year deal with the Premier League.

More and more matches are being played in football and understandably there are those who are no longer happy with the system. Players are regularly overloaded and injuries are not a few.

So the English Football Association has decided to make a change in the prestigious FA Cup, the world’s oldest football competition. And how will it ensure fewer matches?

Because the tradition in the FA Cup is to replay matches in the event of a draw, so if the first encounter was amicable, the two teams would play again on the ground of the other team that played the first time away.

From the new season onwards, replays are completely cancelled and we will see extra time and then penalty kicks. Meanwhile, changes have been made to the FA Cup in the past and in the current format, matches were replayed until the eighth round.

Currently, only the preliminary rounds will remain and will be enjoyed by teams from the 10th to 5th highest competition. Professional teams are therefore no longer affected. Another change is that all rounds will be played on weekends.

The competition will therefore regain its importance. But why this change? The FA explains that the reason is due to UEFA competitions, which cause teams to play eight games in the group stage instead of six.
