Has Tuchel deprived the Bayern star of a winning mentality? German coach gives up title fight, fans rage: The worst coach in our history
Bayern Munich is not used to this, especially not its fans. For the club to miss out on the league title? It will happen. What is already a problem, however, is the big loss to the leader in the first place, and secondly the surrender from coach Thomas Tuchel, who has already given up the title fight.
Bayern Munich is not used to this, especially not its fans. For the club to miss out on the league title? It will happen. What is already a problem, however, is the big loss to the leader in the first place, and secondly the surrender from coach Thomas Tuchel, who has already given up the title fight.
With seven rounds left in the Bundesliga season, there are still 21 points in play. Yet Bayern Munich have now officially given up the title fight. Of course, losing 13 points to first place is not small at all, but miracles do happen, as Leverkusen are showing this season.
You just need to go against those miracles and the Bavarian giant is not doing that. Coach Thomas Tuchel hasn’t had it easy since his arrival at the Allianz Arena, coming in as a replacement for the popular and talented Julian Nagelsmann, whose sacking was met with disapproval by the fans.
Tuchel’s past at Dortmund has not played in his favour either, with problems seen by supporters of the Munich outfit elsewhere. But he got his chance, he got support, but he failed. Bayern are struggling in terms of play and results. Even the arrival of the great Harry Kane hasn’t helped.
When the 33-time champions fell at home to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, Tuchel probably upset his last supporters. “The title is decided. I have no hope that we can win it. I won’t say anything more after this game. How many points are we losing? 13? Congratulations to Leverkusen,” he let himself be heard.
This will be the first time the Bundesliga has known a champion other than Bayern Munich since Dortmund won the title in 2012. Moreover, the Bavarian club is facing its biggest loss to the champion since the 1991/92 season.
Bayern in trouble, fans furious
Under Thomas Tuchel’s statement, interesting discussions and debates have been sparked on social media. Of course, they were very critical and not only fans of the Bavarian giant were involved. Some individuals are joking about the fact that Bayern were robbed of the title by Harry Kane, who brought the curse from Tottenham.
But otherwise, the German coach in particular has faced criticism. “Pep Guardiola dedicated his career to him the moment he accidentally let him win the Champions League with Chelsea,” one fan is clear.
“He has the mentality of a small club coach. The title fight was decided the moment Bayern decided to go into the season with Tuchel as head coach. Engaging this clown was the biggest mistake in the club’s history,” adds another supporter.
They say it is a failure for which they have only themselves to blame. But the question is what happens next. Bayern are apparently keen to bring Julian Nagelsmann back, but he is now facing the European Championships at home, where he will lead Germany and will be under a lot of pressure.
