According to the latest reports, Chelsea are currently on the lookout for a new goalkeeper, and they could snap one up in Brazil. Thanks to his great performances, goalkeeper Bento is starting to attract the attention of European clubs. Apart from Chelsea, he is also being watched by Inter and Benfica.
He will probably move to a European club soon. And rightly and deservedly so. Brazilian Bento is showing himself in a very good light at least this season and it is not surprising that offers from more lucrative addresses are coming in.
Bento is currently still playing for Athletico Paranaense in the Brazilian Serie A. He has played eleven games so far this calendar year, in which he has scored only six goals and kept five clean sheets.
His performances helped the team to reach the final of the Campeonato Paranaense, in which Athletico will play Maringa FC. But that’s not all. Bento played in both of the Brazilian national team’s preliminary matches in March.
In the first one, Brazil lost to England 0-1, then drew with Spain 3-3. But Bento had several offers on the table last year. Benfica offered 10 million euros for him then, but Athletico did not agree to his transfer.
Now, however, the situation is different. Bento has a contract with the Brazilian club until the end of June 2026, but several European clubs are circling him after his start in the national team, according to Ge.
Chelsea are not alone, with Bento on the radar of other big clubs
London Chelsea are reportedly seriously interested. However, Inter Milan, Wolves, Nottingham and again Benfica Lisbon are also circling the 24-year-old goalkeeper. According to the aforementioned newspaper, Athletico value him at more than €15 million.
Bento also has one other, rather big advantage. Namely, he holds an Italian passport and thus would not be considered a non-EU player for European clubs.
Where his steps will subsequently go is a question. In any case, the undeniable fact remains that he or the Brazilian club cannot resist the pressure of Chelsea, Inter or Benfica forever. Will there be an interesting transfer in the summer transfer window?
