The dream semi-final in Indian Wells
This pairing has already become a much-watched one last year. Both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are among the best tennis players of the upcoming generation. Both players have already enjoyed the celebration of a Grand Slam title.
Earlier, the younger of the pair, the Spaniard Alcaraz, had rejoiced. He has triumphs at the US Open and Wimbledon in his pocket. He struggled a bit in the latter part of last year. At Indian Wells, he’s back in the swing of things.
Italy’s Sinner won his maiden major title this year in Australia. He’s also more successful on a reciprocal basis. He has beaten the Spaniard four times out of seven bouts.
After the surprise elimination of Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz and Sinner remain the highest seeded players in California. Their semi-final would be a big attraction. Two final obstacles stand in their way.
Lehecka and Zverev
The Czech tennis player is in great form in Indian Wells. After knocking out Russian Rublev, Lehecka also ended the journey of Greek Tsitsipas. Moreover, he outplayed both big rivals by a class difference.
In the aforementioned matches, he did not lose his serve even once. In both cases he won 2: 0 in sets. Lehecek’s first serve was a reliable and lethal weapon and it is clear that it is from there that the Mlada Boleslav native’s chances in the next match develop.
Lehecka is probably facing his biggest challenge on the ATP circuit at the moment. To end Sinner’s streak, which now stands at eighteen wins in a row. Repeating his attacking tennis with a great first serve from the previous rounds will be a prerequisite for him to attempt this.
A big challenge also awaits Alcaraz, who will take on Germany’s Zverev. He has a lot to repay. Zverev has won both of their previous matches. Most recently at the Australian Open.
Alcaraz is looking very good in Indian Wells and he’s improving match by match. His semi-final with Sinner would certainly be a great experience, but let’s believe that if he advances, he will face a Czech opponent.
