Lebron James, or The Milestones of His Amazing Career

Lebron James has been running the floor of the NBA for 21 years. A few days ago, the best scorer in NBA history hit another milestone, namely 40,000 points in the regular season. Now, let’s take a look at the significant dates of his career.

Lebron James – The number one pick in the 2003 NBA Draft

Lebron James was a star even before he appeared on the boards. Connor Bedard, for example, experienced something similar in this NHL season. With great anticipation, all eyes were on how he would perform in Cleveland. The Cavaliers lost their first NBA game (29 October 2003) to Sacramento 92:106, but James gave a great performance. In his first game he scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists.

Less than 3 years later, he already held the record of the youngest player to reach the 5,000 point mark. It happened on January 21, 2006, when he put 51 points in the basket for Utah. In doing so, he smashed the previous record held by another basketball legend, Kobe Bryant.

Just 25 months later, he already had 10,000 points in the regular season. James reached this milestone at just 23 years and 59 days old, once again taking the record from Bryant, surpassing him by more than a year. In addition, he needed just 368 games to reach the mark, the ninth lowest number in history.

The best shooter in Cleveland Cavaliers history

31. on March 1, 2008, he became Cleveland’s all-time leading scorer after surpassing Brad Daugherty. Since then, he has bounced back to Miami for two championships and rejoined the Cavaliers, where he increased the club record to 23,119 points.

Two years later, he had already reached a career-high 15,000 points in the regular season. On January 16, 2013, he became only the 38th player in NBA history to surpass 20,000 points in the regular season. And once again, he reached that milestone as the youngest player in history.

3. on March 2014, already in a Miami Heat jersey, he recorded his best shooting game. In a 124-107 win over Charlotte, he put 61 points in the basket after converting 22 of 33 shots from the field.

Hall of Fame ticket

In the NBA, the 25,000-point mark is the unofficial ticket to the Hall of Fame. And Lebron James broke that mark again as the youngest player in history! It happened on November 2, 2015, when he missed a triple-double in Cleveland’s win over Philadelphia by a single rebound.

At 30 years and 307 days, he was once again the youngest player to surpass that mark. In addition, he was the 2nd active and 6th overall player in history with that many points at the time.

Prosecuting Legends

23. on January 1, 2018, he was already at the 30,000 point mark in the regular season and had already begun to seriously threaten the top of the NBA’s historical stats. He broke that mark as the 7th player in history to do so. Thus, he has continuously pushed the age limit at which these figures can be reached.

Two months later, he erased Michael Jordan’s historic record for most games in a row with at least 10 points. For the Chicago legend, the counter stopped at the unreal number 867, Lebron has continued this record continuously since January 5, 2007.

14. on November 6, 2018, in the Lakers’ jersey, after the win over Portland (126:117), he scored his season-high 44 points, added 10 rebounds and 9 assists and got ahead of Wilt Chamberlain with 31,420 points. Only the trio of Bryant, Malone and Jabbar remained ahead of him.

Kobe Bryant surpassed him on January 25, 2020 after scoring 18 points in a game against Philadelphia. James had 33,644 points at the time and also heard via Twitter a congratulatory message from the tragically deceased Bryant, for whom, unbeknownst to him, it was his last social media post.

30. on December of that year, he scored his 1,000th straight game with at least 10 points! The streak continues to be active! On March 19, 2022, James became the second all-time leading scorer after leapfrogging Karl Malone to begin the hunt for the record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

James broke that record last season, on February 7 in the third quarter against Oklahoma, when he became the all-time leading scorer in the regular season. And since that game, he has continued to add to his scoring account, making it virtually impossible to break that record, as James is far from done.
