Jakub Mensik, a young talent, reached the final of the Doha tournament, where he lost in two sets to the Russian Karen Khachanov. His name, however, flew through the tennis world. He will be looking to build on his great form from last week in the Emirates.

Mensik in Doha

Jakub Mensik is already slowly preparing for the first round in Dubai, where he will meet Croatian Čorić. After a very successful tournament in Doha, where he beat a number of star players, his new destination is the United Arab Emirates, where he will play on Tuesday from 14:00.

The young Czech tennis player played the tournament of his life in Doha, Qatar. He gradually knocked out big names like Andy Murray, Andrey Rublev and Gael Monfils. After defeating the number one Rublev, he scored his first victory against a player in the top 10 of the ATP world rankings. He impressed in the tournament mainly thanks to his incredible serve, which played a big role in defeating tennis greats.

In the ATP rankings, Mensik moved into the top 100 and became the youngest player in the top 100. After a dream tournament, the young Czech teenager climbed to 87th in the rankings, which he will also try to improve at the tournament in the Emirates.

His opponent will be 27-year-old Croatian Borna Čorič, who, on the other hand, did not even make it past the first round at the last tournament in Rotterdam. For the second time in a row he lost to Alexander Bublik.

Concrete as an advantage?

The media talks about the hard surface as a big advantage for the Czech hope. He managed to produce over forty aces at the Doha tournament, sixteen of them in the final match.

Mensik also showed his great serve in various challengers. Compared to the Czech tennis player, Čorič is much worse when it comes to his serve. The match will be the first clash between these players across all surfaces.

Lehecka will also play in Dubai

The other Czech tennis player will also be at the tournament. Twenty-two-year-old Jiří Lehečka will want to forget his failure in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, quickly. In a very close match, he lost to Hubert Hurkacz of Poland in the first round. From 11:00 he will play against tournament qualifier Marton Fucsovics.
