Nikola Jokic has his second triple-double in two days
Denver fulfilled the role of the favourite on the Potland Trail Blazers’ court quite comfortably. Serbian Nikola Jokic contributed to the victory (127:112) with his second triple-double in two days. It was his 17th triple-double of the season and 122nd of his career.
He started the chase for the season leader Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings. He has 19 of them and has also recorded 4 of them in the last 5 games. However, unlike Sabonis, Jokic boasts an unprecedented record.
His team has a 17-0 record in games this season, with Jokic managing to rack up a triple-double in a game. On Portland’s floor, Jokić’s teammate Michael Porter Jr. was the top scorer, putting 34 points and adding 12 rebounds to Potrtland’s basket. Jokic added 15 rebounds and recorded 14 assists to go with his 29 points.
Portland did have three 20-point scorers, led by Jerami Grant with 25 points, but the home team fell behind the defending champions from the start of the game. Denver was already up by double digits at halftime and controlled the game comfortably until the end.
Kevin Durant is already the 9th all-time leading scorer in NBA history
In the game Houston Rockets vs Phoenix Suns (114:110) the star player of the Suns Kevin Durant drew the most attention. He was the best scorer of the game with 28 points during the unexpected defeat of his team on the Rockets’ court.
In addition, he also attacked the triple-double line. He also recorded 11 rebounds and added 8 assists. He had to endure another defeat for his team, as Phoenix fell to Dallas in the previous game. However, he had at least a small reason to be happy in this game.
He leaped Carmelo Anthony to the 9th place on the historical scorers’ table by one point. He now has 28,290 points scored. And now ahead of him is the legendary Shaquille O’Neal. He is now 306 points ahead of Durant in 8th place, which is within sight this season with his average of nearly 29 points per game.
