However, Magomed Ankalaev entered this fight with his win and speculation was running high. But Poatan has now released information that he already knows his opponent.
The UFC light heavyweight division is constantly changing. The champions have not been on the throne for long lately. It all started with Glover Teixeira, who surprisingly defeated Poland’s Jan Blachowicz. The Brazilian was then defeated by Czech Jiri Prochazka.
But shortly before the rematch was scheduled, he got injured and vacated the belt. With Teixeira, Jamahal Hill went for it and became the new champion. But he too was injured for a long time and it was Alex Pereira and Procházka for the title.
Czech was not enough for the Brazilian this time and he is waiting for his opponent. It was supposed to be Hill, who is eligible after his injury, but in the meantime Magomed Ankalaev stepped in with his win over Johnny Walker.
So the question is who will Poatan go with. Walk should be only the third man on the card, plus he has a fight scheduled against Aleksandar Rakitic in April. But if he wins, he could see a title fight at the end of the year.
Pereira already knows his opponent
“I got a message today from my manager who informed me that everything is already sorted. So it is clear when and against whom I will fight in my next fight. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal more, but you will know soon,” Pereira informed his fans.
We will have to wait a few more days or weeks for a name. The most likely option, however, is Ankalaev, who at the same time got a title shot in December 2022.
But back then, he so bored Dana White with his fight with Blachowicz that he decided to give Hill and Teixeira a chance, and both fighters fell shy in the fight for the vacant title.
