He is currently slowly starting to prepare for his next match. However, he is still facing questions about his last match. Jiri Prochazka also spoke on The MMA Hour about the problems he had to deal with before his fight with Alex Pereira.

It was his first fight after a serious injury. After a long layoff. And a tough one at that. Harder than you could possibly imagine. Jiri Prochazka faced the Brazilian slugger in a title fight in November, Alex Pereira lived up to his reputation and finished the Moravian samurai. Albeit controversially.

It’s worth noting, however, that BJP went into the fight far from 100 percent. He was very much limited. But he never vented before the duel. He didn’t really blur it out after the match either. It took quite a long time before he even complained about the duel being stopped too early.

Eventually, it became clear that Procházka had to cut back a lot on his preparation, which was less than ideal. So it was no wonder that when arranging the fight with Aleksandar Rakic he refused January, February or March dates.

He needed to get his health back together, rest and at the same time undergo adequate preparation. He could not afford to underestimate the whole situation. After all, a win could put him back in contention for the title. The duel with Rakitic cannot be taken lightly.

Prochazka reveals problems before the battle with Pereira

Jiří Procházka took a long break due to a shoulder injury. “I felt it a little bit before the fight. It wasn’t quite at full strength, but I was more worried about other problems that happened in preparation,” he expressed on The MMA Hour.

He trained only one of the last five weeks of preparation. He had a staph infection, which he fought for a month after the fight. So he took antibiotics before the fight with Alex Pereira.

“It started on my leg, then it went through my body to my ear. I woke up one morning and it was really swollen. It was about four times bigger. Then other things came on. It was a lot. But I didn’t think about withdrawing from the fight,” admitted the Moravian samurai.

“I’m a warrior. I have to fight. When I go into a fight, I have to win no matter what the circumstances. I have fought many times in the past with injuries. When you believe you can win, the way is open. Igo into all my fights with that in mind,” Procházka concluded.

He will face Rakic at the UFC 300 anniversary event.
