Get acquainted! These young tennis players are among the biggest promises of 2024 on the ATP circuit
You may have heard their name somewhere. But unless you are a big fan of white sports, you probably don’t know much about them. And that’s a shame, because they’re the ones planning an assault on the top of the ATP rankings.
You may have heard their name somewhere. But unless you are a big fan of white sports, you probably don’t know much about them. And that’s a shame, because they’re the ones planning an assault on the top of the ATP rankings.
Jack Draper – 61st in the ATP rankings
The twenty-one-year-old Brit is currently in the top ten of the ATP rankings. But don’t be fooled, this left-handed player harbours potential like thunder.
And he managed to send his opponents an unmissable calling card at the UTS event in London. Incidentally, this very competition is trying to stir up the stagnant waters of tennis and is courting the favour of tennis fans with revolutionary changes to the system of play.
But back to the British tennis player. He won on his home soil in a very well attended event. For example, he defeated Casper Ruud and Holger Run. He even beat the Dane twice.
“If he plays like he did today, he can beat almost anyone,” said the Danish tennis player about Draper.
After watching the following exchange, it is not hard to understand why Draper impressed the world number eight. And certainly not only her.
Ben Shelton – 17th in the ATP rankings
Arguably a more well-known name, the bearer of which figures much higher in the rankings than the Brit. Ben Shelton made his presence felt especially at the US Open. The American played the semi-finals there.
The Atlanta native is also a very promising player in the eyes of John McEnroe. The tennis legend has only words of praise for Shelton and the freshly twenty-one-year-old tennis player gives him the truth with his performances.
Jannik Sinner, Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul. All of these players have succumbed to Shelton in recent months.
The 6’2″ tennis player, like Draper, is left-handed. Which is always a nuisance for his opponents. It’s very realistic that he’ll challenge for a position in the ATP’s top ten in 2024.
Arthur Fils – 36th in the ATP rankings
He has never been this high in the rankings. Frenchman Arthur Fils is basking in the 36th position of the ranking. That’s his highest ever.
And no wonder, since this year is his 19th birthday. You won’t find another player that high in the rankings at that age.
And the native of the Paris metropolitan area is getting noticed by his competitors. Rafael Nadal has even personally invited the tennis player a generation younger to train with him. Recall that the Spanish legend has already announced the date of his return to the ATP circuit.
Finally..
The next year will bring the return of a legend and the expectation of the results of several young tennis players. The next tournament is only ten days away. For tennis lovers, Christmas will certainly not end on December 26th.
