World MMA Oscars were handed out yesterday. Who dominated each category?
Octagon MMA has had an absolutely crucial year. The Czechoslovakian organisation hosted Tipsport Gamechanger, which has seen them acquire some exceptional fighters, dominate Germany and begin expansion into the UK. In short, a lot has happened and Oktagon has seen four MMA Oscars nominations.
The 2023 MMA Oscars were handed out last night in Las Vegas. No major sensations, though, as the UFC dominated most of the awards.
MMA Oscars
As it happens, as the year draws to a close, the Oscars are handed out in the world of mixed martial arts, just as they are in the world of film.
The night belonged not only to fighters, but also to world MMA organizations, personalities from this environment and to the media representatives.
The World MMA Awards, which date back to 2008, are awarded in 22 categories. As you might expect, most of the categories were dominated by the world’s number one organization, the UFC.
Leon Ewards in particular reigned supreme, dominating four categories. Alexa Grasso went for the award three times. Alex Pereira had a special year, he also won one award.
