Mohamed Salah scores his 150th goal and is on the brink of the Premier League’s Top 10 goalscorers
In the round of 16 of the Premier League, Mohamed Salah scored his 150th Premier League goal for Liverpool (2-1) at Crystal Palace. It was his 11th goal this season, which puts him in second place in the goalscorers table behind Manchester City’s sharpshooter Erling Haaland, who managed 3 more shots.
In the round of 16 of the Premier League, Mohamed Salah scored his 150th Premier League goal to help Liverpool to a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace. It was his 11th goal this season, which puts him in second place in the scorers’ table behind Manchester City’s sharpshooter Erling Haaland, who managed 3 more shots.
Salah scores his 150th goal
Salah celebrated two huge anniversaries with this goal. Since his arrival at Liverpool in 2017, although the club paid almost a billion crowns for him, he has already scored 200 goals in all competitions. This makes him only the fifth player at the club to reach that milestone!
The historical table is led by club legend Ian Rush with 346 goals. At the same time, the Egyptian striker became only the 11th player in Premier League history alone to score 150 league goals. With this feat, he has equalled another Liverpool legend Michael Owen. He is also the first footballer of African descent to be in elite company.
The speed at which he has reached this milestone is also admirable. He did it in just 247 games. Only four other footballers have done it faster: Alan Shearer, who is also the all-time top scorer in the Premier League with 260 goals, scoring 150 goals in 212 games, Sergio Agüero (217), Harry Kane (218) and Thierry Henry (220).
Top scorers in Premier League history
# Player | Goals |
1. Alan Shearer | 260 |
2. Harry Kane | 213 |
3. Wayne Rooney | 208 |
4. Andy Cole | 187 |
5. Sergio Agüero | 184 |
6. Frank Lampard | 177 |
7. Thierry Henry | 175 |
8. Robbie Fowler | 163 |
9. Jermain Defoe | 162 |
10. Michael Owen | 150 |
11. Mohamed Salah | 150 |
So Liverpool can clearly say that the money they invested in Salah has paid off. Moreover, the club’s management reportedly has a very lucrative offer on the table from Saudi Arabia. The Egyptian striker is thus very likely to pay off tremendously for the Reds.
Moreover, this season the club has put the misery of last season behind them. Moreover, with this win, the Reds have taken the Premier League lead as they are a point ahead of Arsenal.
After 16 rounds played, Liverpool has lost only once and has not lost a point at home. Manchester City will thus very likely not only fight for the title with the Gunners, but also with the Reds. So we are probably going to see a very interesting spectacle this season.
