Zacha’s glowing! Shot the Boston Bruins to their eighth win in overtime
Pavel Zacha is having a great time. Last season, he’s been on the mend after coming to Boston, this season he’s been given more responsibility after the end of Bergeron and Krejci and it’s working out for him.
Pavel Zacha is having a great time. Last season, he’s been on the mend after coming to Boston, this season he’s been given more responsibility after the end of Bergeron and Krejci and it’s working out for him.
Zacha came from Detroit as a second or third line player, not with any hallmark of a star. The sixth overall draft pick in six seasons never scored more than 36 points in a season, it was no wonder the Devils disposed of him with peace of mind.
But in Boston, Zacha has come alive. He was given a bigger role, of course, helped by the best team in history in the regular season, and the Czech forward nearly doubled his point total to 63.
This season, after the end of two elite centers in Bergeron and Krejci, he has stepped up even more. Going into the last few games, coach Jim Montgomery put him in the first line with Pastrnak and Marchand and it suited him perfectly.
In the last game, he opened the scoring after an assist from those two, and the Bruins won 4-1. On the other hand, in the night game from Monday to Tuesday, Boston did not start the game with Florida well, losing 0:2 after the first period.
However, Marchand reduced the deficit in the second period and McAvoy tied the game in the third period with an assist from Pastrnak and Zacha. And the 26-year-old Czech forward showed up again in overtime.
Goal in overtime
He got to a loose puck in his own period, kicked the engines and raced to the net himself. Even though Heinen was still complementing him from the other side, Zacha decided to take it upon himself and converted.
Boston won its eighth game out of nine and now leads the Eastern Conference. Zacha has six points on three goals and three assists in nine games.
