Monday’s football schedule continues with the return of the English Premier League. Tottenham will challenge visiting Fulham in the London derby on home soil, what to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Tottenham are experiencing a dream start to the league season, having lost only draws at Arsenal and Brentford in the opening eight rounds. If they win on Monday, they will return to the number one spot of the Premier League table.
Fulham have not done well against the favourites so far, getting a five from Manchester City, a two from Chelsea and only a valuable 2-2 draw at Arsenal. In the three London derbies this season, they have only taken a point.
Spurs’ key figures
The home side rely on James Maddison, the summer signing from Leicester has struck twice and assisted five times. Defensively, Wolfsburg acquisition Micky van der Ven has been excellent, with his goal deciding last round at Luton.
Fulham’s key players
The visitors’ midfield is pulled by Portuguese international Joao Palhinha, not for nothing he was lured by Bayern Munich in the summer. Immediately after his arrival from Arsenal, Bernd Leno, the number one between the three poles, became a big mainstay.
Tottenham have so far handled the critical moments of the season. He twice closed the gap on Arsenal, and against Sheffield he turned the tide in the set-up. Last time at Luton, it won despite playing more than half-time shorthanded without the suspended Yves Bissouma.
Fulham have not done well away from home so far, winning only once in four rounds. On aggregate with last season, the Cottagers have won only twice out of their last eight away games, plus against struggling Everton and Southampton.
Considering the mental resilience of Spurs under Ange Postecoglou, the excellent form of Maddison and the away woes of Fulham, I think Spurs will win and remain top of the Premier League.
