Two completely different teams will face off
Last season, New Jersey made the playoffs after a long wait. However, after the New York Rangers were eliminated, they fell short to the Carolina Hurricanes. This year, however, the Devils are heading in the same direction and have their sights set on the top spot.
The proof of this is the successful preparation, during which the Devils played seven games and won all of them with a record of 30:14. They also made it to the new NHL season, beating the Detroit Red Wings 4:3 at their own stadium.
The New Jersey players entered the first game as the favourites, but the victory was not easy. However, thanks to two goals by Jack Hughes, they overcame their opponents. Czech goalie Vitek Vanecek covered 32 shots and became the second star of the game.
Arizona has been struggling for a long time and it doesn’t look like there will be any breakthrough this season. The Coyotes have played nine games in preparation, winning four times and losing five. However, the last game is worth mentioning, in which they beat the Anaheim Ducks 7-1.
Arizona players have played two more games in preparation, but unlike the Devils, they have not played an NHL game yet.
The Czech footprint in the game will be rich
There are three Czech players on the New Jersey team who are worth watching. Vítek Vaněček is the number one goalie, with Switzerland’s Akira Schmid backing him up. The Czech goalie covered 32 shot attempts in the first game and recorded a save percentage of 91.43%.
Ondrej Palat, who spent a long time on the sidelines last season, is one of the stars of the offense. However, he proved to be an important player in the playoffs and continues his form this year. He had an assist against Detroit.
The last Czech in a Devils jersey is Tomas Nosek, who joined the team in the summer. During the preparation, he won a spot in the starting lineup, where he makes the game difficult for the opponents in the fourth line.
Karel Vejmelka, a stalwart in Arizona’s goal, will play against the two forwards mentioned above. The Czech goalie is one of the few positives in the current Coyotes organization. Despite the team’s miserable performances, he has always been able to put in great performances and that is expected today as well.
Betting Tips
The New Jersey Devils are a big favorite in the game. Even though they won the first game, they did not give their best performance for which they will want to apologize to the fans. Their win at odds of 1.7 looks more than promising.
Both teams have averaged more than six goals per game in preparation. Even in the Devils’ game against the Red Wings, seven goals were scored, so we can expect a lot of goals now. We have odds of 1.65 for the teams to maintain their trend and score more than six goals.
With a lot of goals must also come a good amount of points. Palat could follow up an assist and score another point at odds of 1.9. Defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler recorded three assists against Detroit and could follow up with another Canadian point at odds of 3.5.
In the Devils’ first game, we picked the famed Jack Hughes to come through and his team to win at odds of 3.5. The American even scored two goals, so it’s not surprising that the odds have now dropped to 3.15, but he still has a chance to succeed.
