Memorable moments: Kaká and his amazing solo action against Manchester United. Look how he made a mockery of the opposition defence
Brazilian offensive midfielder Kaká has always been known for his speed and great dribbling, especially in an AC Milan jersey. He showed this in the 2006/07 Champions League semi-final, when he made a mockery of Manchester United’s defence with his goal. However, it wasn’t enough for the Rossoneri to win the first leg.

It was 24 April 2007, when AC Milan entered the semi-finals of the then Champions League at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
As we all know by now, the 2006/07 season was a very successful one for the Rossoneri, as they enjoyed the famous Champions League winners’ trophy at the end of it.
AC Milan fought some very close battles on their way to the coveted championship. Already in the eighth round, Scottish Celtic showed great resilience, while in the quarter-finals, in a battle of heavyweights, AC took on Bayern.
And in the semi-finals, another very tough challenge awaited Carlo Ancelotti’s charges – Manchester United. The first match at Old Trafford probably didn’t go quite as expected, as AC lost 2: 3.
However, something happened in this match that will forever be written in football history. In bold letters indeed. The Rossoneri led 2-1 at half-time. Both goals were scored by Brazilian Kaká, and the second one was really worth it! You can see it for yourself below.
A clear rematch, a win in the final!
Milan were well on their way to winning this match. However, Wayne Rooney equalised in the 59th minute to make it 2-2, and he also scored in the 90th minute to seal the win for his team.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men were defeated in the subsequent rematch at the San Siro. Kaká opened the scoring in the eleventh minute, Clarence Seedorf made it 2-0 in the 30th minute and Alberto Gilardino added a third with twelve minutes left in normal time.
AC thus advanced to the Champions League final, where they will face Liverpool. Kaká and co, having learned from the previous encounter, won 2-1 and thus won the famous Eared Cup.
