Boxing champion Tyson Fury has two fights ahead of him, which he should be able to make before the end of the year, or the second one at the beginning of next year. He will face former UFC champion and heavyweight Francis Ngannou on October 28.
However, the world MMA star is not given much of a chance and it seems that Fury himself sees it similarly. He clearly doesn’t expect to lose or get injured too much and has scheduled his next fight.
A fight with Oleksandr Usyk has been talked about for a long time, but until recently it could never be arranged for a number of reasons. Often the reason was the English boxer and his high demands or nonsensical demands.
The Fury vs Usyk duel will be special because it will be about unification of the most important boxing titles. The Englishman holds one, but the most valuable one. The Ukrainian holds four titles and would like to win a fifth.
But that’s obviously not the only reason why this fight will be special. Fury has already let it be known that he has achieved everything in the boxing world and that’s why he has a new goal. He wants to get to number one on the Forbes list of top earning athletes.
The fight with Ngannou alone is set to make him a fortune, however, according to promoter Bob Arum, the Gypsy King is set to make a much bigger sum with a fight with Usyk. He even revealed what the amount could be.
“If you told Tyson he was going to make $100 million, he’d be really pissed. He thinks he’s going to make a lot more, and I think he’s right. I don’t know the number, but it’s a lot more than $100 million,” BJPenn.com quoted Arum as saying.
It is worth noting that just $100 million. If this is achieved, the goal of becoming the highest paid athlete should not be unrealistic at all.
It would be the biggest payday of Fury’s career, by the way. But before that, he has to beat Ngannou and if he falls, he has to take the rematch.
