Sparta Prague vs. Viktoria Plzen: Preview and betting tips

The highlight of the current weekend is clear. Prague’s Sparta will welcome home Viktoria Plzen, which has made a solid start and is already slowly closing in on the top of the table. What to bet on?

Sparta have entered the new season of the Fortuna Liga with a great start. It defeated Olomouc, Zlín and Pardubice, followed by Jablonec. Then came a setback in Teplice, followed by wins against Karviná, Liberec and Slovácko.

A week ago, the biggest game of the autumn came. The Prague derby didn’t bring much attractive football, but Sparta at least equalized in the last minute of the setup to 1:1.

Thanks to this, they stayed at the top of the table by a score ahead of Slavia. But now another tough test awaits them in the form of a duel with Viktoria Plzeň.

The latter is currently in the best form in the league. After a shaky start to the season, Miroslav Koubek gave the team what it wanted and it is starting to work.

Viktoria started the season with a defeat in Teplice, a draw with Drita and a defeat against Hradec. Koubek was already slowly fired, but then something changed. Viktoria hasn’t lost a point since then and has won 12 games in a row along with the cups.

They have risen to third place in the table and are now only four points behind Prague S. Although it looked at the beginning that Plzen would not be in the title race this year, they are now quietly back in it. And they will want to confirm it at Letná.

In their last match in May, Viktoria won 1:0, but Sparta had a championship hangover, as they had also clinched the title a few days earlier with a win at Slovácko.

But Sparta is strong at home and in the new season they are 100% at Letná. After the draw in Eden, it cannot afford another loss and if it wants to defend the title, it must especially manage home games against direct competitors.
