Erik the Hag is not in the best of moods. On Saturday, the Manchester United coach had to watch his team lose 0:3 to Brighton at home in his temple, but in the end he could only reduce it to 1:3. Fans reminded him of Cristiano Ronaldo’s name.

After Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, not everything went according to plan. United under the leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not tread well, however, the Portuguese was scoring goals.

He racked up 18 in the Premier League, added six more in the Champions League and virtually single-handedly decided the group’s progression. But in the summer, a new coach came in and it was bad.

Ronaldo missed the Asian tour because of the serious illness of his young daughter. But Erik the Hag kept on nagging him afterwards and wrote him off completely. This left the most starred and key player of the previous season sitting on the bench all autumn.

Plus, he didn’t treat him very well in the locker room either. If you want to take such a big star out of the lineup, it has to be well communicated. That’s not what Hague did.

In a later interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo complained quite a lot about the Dutch coach and said that some people at the club didn’t even believe him about his daughter’s illness, which hit him hard given the earlier death of his son in childbirth.

So in short, it can be said that the Hag drove Ronaldo out of United. If he had a replacement and did well without him, United fans would understand. But the Red Devils are staggering from wall to wall.

In the new season, United first squeaked to a 1-0 win over Wolves, who were the better team, then lost clearly to Tottenham. They then turned it around from 0: 2 to 3: 2 against Nottingham, but instead of kicking on, they lost 1: 3 to Arsenal and 1: 3 to Brighton.

It was the loss to the Seagulls that really pissed off the fans. It made the fans remember a player who could score goals regularly, but the Hag wrote him off. The second half was a chant of “Viva Ronaldo”.

After an incomplete sixth round, United are in 13th place and could drop one more place. In addition, they have a Champions League opener against Bayern Munich in the week. And the question is how much confidence the management has in the Hague one. Because the fans are slowly running out.
