A nasty injury to a former UFC champion! Namajunas dislocated her little finger, which she continued to fight with
Thirty-one year old Rose Namajunas has had another fight under the UFC banner. She scored a defeat this time as well, when she fell short to Manon Fiorot.
Thirty-one year old Rose Namajunas has had another fight under the UFC banner. Now she is out with a photo of an injury that basically left her unable to use one arm.
UFC Fight Night 226 is over, which featured former champion Rose Namajunas. She switched weight classes this time and took on Manon Fiorot.
However, the two-years-older Frenchwoman is no slouch and it’s questionable whether it was a good move to actually take this fight. Although we now know the answer, it rather wasn’t.
Fiorot looked like the bigger fighter and was eventually able to smother Namajunas in a three round points battle, giving her her eleventh win in a row and her current record of 11: 1.
Namajunas, on the other hand, lost for the second time in a row and her record stands at 11:6. However, the defeat was not due to the poor performance of the former champion, but to an injury that prevented her from fighting fully.
As the post-match photo showed, Namajunas seriously damaged her little finger, which was bent from one side to the other. She complained of pain from the first round, but continued anyway and did not scratch the fight.
“Unfortunately, Rose couldn’t close her fist, so she fought with herself and her own head to even make it to the second round. However, she eventually got going and might have made it through more rounds,” her manager said after the tournament.
