Jan Kuchta and his possible departure is on the scene again. The 26-year-old forward didn’t last long and after only one year in the red jersey, there is already speculation about his possible transfer elsewhere. Apart from Denmark, there is also interest in England.
Kuchta’s footballing journey is already a rich one at the age of 26. He first entered the league in a Slavia jersey, then spent a year and a half on loan at Bohemians. The next six months were spent on loan at Žižkov.
He spent the autumn of 2018/19 at Slovácko and the spring at Teplice, where he was expelled by sporting director Štěpán Vachoušek, who did not like Kuchta’s approach. A successful season in Liberec followed, from where Slavia bought him back.
There he shot to great heights, in a year and a half he became the best striker in the league and a regular member of the national team. However, he didn’t last long there either, in the winter of 2022 he wanted to leave by choice, choosing Russian Lokomotiv Moscow.
But because of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, he didn’t want to stay at Lokomotiv and returned to Prague, not to Slavia but to Sparta. In May, before the end of the season, Letna triumphantly announced that Kuchta had been bought permanently from Russia and would become a Sparta player.
But maybe not for long. According to Deník Sport, Kuchta caused a bit of trouble in the summer training, and more than enough has been written about his difficult nature.
Already in the summer, coach Brian Priske sent a signal to the world that he was not completely satisfied with the 26-year-old striker. In the dress rehearsal, he sent Sejk to the starting lineup instead of Kuchta and he also raised a warning finger.
“Kuchta needs to know that what happened in the spring is in the past. Now it’s over, a new competition is coming. We will play with the best who gives more to the team at the moment,” Priske said at the time, indirectly confirming the current speculation that Kuchta had gone a little “bad” in the preparation.
In the last two matches Kuchta was only on the bench, both against Dinamo Zagreb and Karviná. In Croatia he played at least 30 minutes, in the league not at all. Priske explained it by the fact that Kuchta had a cold.
And then there’s the transfer speculation. Yesterday there was already talk of interest from Danish Midtjylland, but they are not the only interested parties. According to Deník Sport, English Championship side Norwich are also probing the situation around Kuchta.
