The Red Devils have been desperate for a player to spearhead the offense for some time. In the summer, they finally brought in a player to fill that position for years to come. However, Rasmus Højlund will miss the start of the season and could be out for an extended period of time due to injury.

Manchester United have continued to rebuild and build a squad over the summer to bring the Old Trafford outfit back to the top. Erik ten Hag has brought in players like Rasmus Højlund, Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Jonny Evans.

The first mentioned is to solve the long-standing problem of the post at the tip of the attack. Still only 20 years old, the Danish striker arrived from Atalanta for €75 million and has been compared to Norwegian sharpshooter Erling Haaland.

Højlund, however, only arrived at Old Trafford a few days ago and so there were questions as to whether he would even be ready for the start of the season. The Premier League starts on Friday and Manchester United will be in action on Monday against Wolves.

Ten Hag has already noted that the talented footballer has a slight health problem with his back, which he brought on during his training in Italy, and that he will therefore probably be out for a while. The first two games were counted on.

However, the Daily Mail and talkSPORT have come out with information that Højlund’s injury may be more serious than it appeared. The Danish striker was sent for an MRI scan and it was found to be a reaction to a back strain.

This means that if the player is rushed into the game, he could suffer an injury that would sideline him for an extended period of time. Moreover, it is not so easy to estimate when the complication will go away.

Højlund played 34 games for Atalanta last season, scoring 10 goals and adding 4 assists. He scored 6 goals in 6 games for the Danish national team.
