Libor Kozák became a free agent after the end of last season. He helped Zlín under Pavel Vrba’s management to save the team, but now he has a new job. Surprisingly, he is returning to Italy, where he has worked in the past.
At 34 years old, Libor Kozák is probably past his prime, but he is still an interesting striker who can be an attractive commodity for various teams. Moreover, he became a free agent in the summer.
After an unsuccessful engagement in Slovácko, he signed for Zlín, which he helped to save last season with four goals in twelve games, albeit only in the barrage. When he was on the pitch, it was obvious.
But the striker, who has played for the likes of Lazio Roma and Aston Villa, has found a new club. Rather surprisingly, the nine-time international is returning to Italy, where he will wear the Arezzo jersey.
Arezzo play in the third Italian league, Kozak can look forward to the beautiful historic city of Florence. Moreover, he knows Italy very well, after all, besides Lazio he has also worked in Brescia, Bari and Livorno.
Kozak has spent more than six years of his career in Italy. In the Lazio jersey he became the top scorer of the Europa League in the 2012/13 season, and in the same season he also won the Italian Cup.
It is worth mentioning that the Opava graduate now has a difficult task ahead of him. Arezzo is a newcomer in the third league. He returns here after two seasons in the fourth league.
“I am really happy to be here. I have spoken with the club management and I like the project that is taking shape here. I’ve seen the facilities and the environment here and I really like it. I am here to score goals,” Kozak said in his first interview in his new job.
Kozák will have many young teammates in the team, whom he will want to set an example for. He is looking forward to the challenge and hopes that he and his team will do well.
