Yesterday, at least for Korean fans, was a day when time stood still for a moment. Faker returned to game mode after his injury.
Yesterday, at least for Korean fans, was a day when time stood still for a while. Faker returned to game mode after his injury.
When T1 announced a few weeks ago that Faker’s biggest star would be out, panic reigned on the networks. The biggest esports star on the planet confided that the problems with his right hand were bigger than expected.
As a result, Faker requested a break to receive treatment and prepare for his return. Very soon the team was abandoned by T1 coach Bengi. The last-minute call-up of youngster Poby, playing for the challenger team T1, could not logically replace the king of League of Legends. But the expectations were still high.
However, the 1-7 score showed how fragile the team really is without its main star. A bunch of incomprehensible mistakes naturally took their toll on the fans, who spared no harsh criticism.
The currently fifth-ranked LCK team now looks to other priorities after today. The King’s returned and successfully launched their comeback against the Kwandong Freecs, who themselves are fighting for a playoff spot. A quick 2-0 in 46 minutes shows that the main glue of the team is starting to come together again.
It is now important for T1 to regain their lost reputation and most importantly prepare for the playoffs and include a potential regional qualification scenario. The latter is a real possibility for the team thanks to a poor second half of the regular season.
T1 have taken the first step. Now it will depend on the team returning to its original form very quickly. Faker admitted in a post-game interview that his status is not 100% yet. However, he will do his best to help the team succeed.
