Pereira a tougher opponent than Hill? Procházka praises Brazilian puncher, likes American’s style

Jiří Procházka will probably return to action later this year and his opponent should be Alex Pereira, who defeated Jan Blachowicz. What does he say about his rival and what is the difference between the Brazilian and the former champion Jamahal Hill?

The weekend offered a spectacular UFC 291 tournament. Jan Blachowicz and Alex Pereira faced off in the main event of the evening. A title fight? Still officially unconfirmed, but it’s generally expected.

The Brazilian fighter won the duel on points, specifically on split-decision. The Pole was angry after the loss, he felt robbed, however the fight was even, it could have gone either way. Anyway, Jiri Prochazka had his say on the fight.

The Moravian samurai revealed that he expected a more entertaining spectacle from the match of these fighters. On The MMA Hour, he admitted that he first saw Blachowicz win, but when he watched the duel again with his coach, he admitted that Pereira deserved to win.

After Pereira’s win, Glover Teixeira, a former opponent of Prochazka and coach of the Brazilian slugger, texted him. In a good spirit, of course. Because of Teixeira, Procházka and his team are looking forward to the fight with Pereira.

The Moravian was originally scheduled to face Jamahal Hill. But he’s injured. The first thing Prochazka thought when he heard about it? That the American probably paid for his weight, which puts a strain on his joints and tendons.

Hill’s fighting style, however, suits Prochazka. “I was ready for him and I like his style. It’s very simple, he puts power into every punch,” the South Moravian native is clear.

“Pereira has a similar style, just more refinement. He has more logic in his style. Both are strong opponents, both are more stand-up guys. I don’t want to rate them, but right now I see Pereira as the tougher opponent,” Procházka added.
