Rematch 37 days later. Can Alcaraz undo Djokovic’s Roland Garros defeat in the Wimbledon final?

Novak Djokovic will not get rid of Spain. Although his biggest rival Rafael Nadal is injured and another great rival Roger Federer has retired, the Serbian has another native of the Iberian Peninsula against him. The world number one has a big challenge ahead of him in the form of a rematch.

Novak Djokovic dominated the first two Grand Slams this season. If anyone has the power to stop him, it’s Spaniard and world number one Carlos Alcaraz.

“Carlitos” was also considered the favourite at Roland Garros, a favourite clay court for Spaniards. The Serbian-Spanish duel took place in the semi-finals, with Djokovic eventually winning 3:1 in sets, but it must be said that the match was greatly affected by Alcaraz’s injury, which did not allow him to play at 100%.

Djokovic and Alcaraz have not met since then, only in training at Aorangi Park. But now comes the big Wimbledon final, where everyone wants the title at any cost.

“I’ve learned from what happened in the semi-finals of Roland Garros,” admits last year’s Spanish comet.

Djokovic has played Nadal in nine Grand Slam finals, winning five and losing four times. He will face Alcaraz in his first final.

The Murcia native is preparing for a big rematch 37 days after losing the semi-final. From 3pm on Centre Court in London, he will fight for the second Grand Slam of his career.

Djokovic is fighting for a chance at a career grand slam, after that he would only have the US Open left. Plus, he would again just miss Nadal for the most grand slams in history.
