About a month ago, AC Milan’s management showed serious interest in Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic. And now the American right winger is definitely the new signing of the Rossoneri, who officially confirmed his transfer on Thursday evening.
Christian Pulisic has become AC Milan’s fourth signing in this summer transfer window. The Italian big club has so far brought in Atalanta Bergamo goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea and Luka Romero from Lazio Roma have also transferred to the San Siro.
Pulisic has signed a four-year contract on the Apennine Peninsula, plus a potential additional year in the form of an option.
The Rossoneri have sent €22 million for him to Stamford Bridge, with that sum including potential bonuses resulting from that deal.
The 24-year-old American winger is one of many players who have already left or are yet to leave the London club this summer. Moreover, the Hershey native would be out of contract at the end of June next year, giving the Blues one of their last chances to cash in.
In an interview after the official introduction, Pulisic admitted that AC coach Stefano Pioli in particular had shown him how much he was wanted at Milan.
Former Chelsea players Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori also recommended him for the transfer. And given how unhappy the Hersey native felt at Chelsea, this factor also helped his transfer to Milan.
“I will try to help the team win trophies. It will be great to play in the Champions League in this jersey. I watched the great run the Rossoneri went on last season. Thanks to my time at Chelsea, I have experience of this competition. I will give it my all, ” Pulisic said at the press conference.
Pulisic joined Chelsea in June 2019 and has since played 145 games, scoring 26 goals and adding 21 assists.
