The Korean LCK has had another week of play. In addition to the turbulent changes around T1, the second round of the regular season has begun.

The first half of the regular season is over and now the battle for the six playoff spots and qualification for the World Championship hosted by Korea has begun. As a reminder, the top four from the LCK will play the home tournament.

KT Rolster made it through the rematch with BRION and are chasing GenG

This week was a specific week for KT Rolster and BRION. Both teams closed the first half of the regular season with a duel, then started the second round.

KT clearly dominated the first clash, although once again BRION managed to press the issue and confirmed that the team is playing better than in the spring, unfortunately without much success. The “Power of Friendship” looked forward to the surprise and dramatization of the fight for the sixth place guaranteeing participation in the playoffs.

BRION once again managed to make life unpleasant for the well-playing KT Rolster. The first game in particular was not entirely suited to the weaker natures. Unfortunately, the team was still unable to finish the promising games. With a certain degree of exaggeration, we can say that BRION players are the biggest losers of the league.

The favourite, despite a great performance by Morgan in the first game, ended up taking another clean 2-0 win to stay within striking distance of the defending champions.

KT Rolster have not lost since their defeat to GenG in the opening week of the summer split. This is all the more impressive considering the team hasn’t lost a game in the series since the series with GenG. So the team has confirmed that they are playing well. The 9-1 record (+19) is a source of justified respect.

If KT and GenG can keep up their phenomenal performances, their July 22 clash against each other will be the highlight of the regular season.

Kwandong Freecs missed the chance to escape the chasers in the battle for sixth place

Although it may not have looked like it at first glance, the clash between Hanwha and Kwandong was a battle of neighbours in the table. However, there was a significant performance gap between the fifth and sixth teams in the league. Despite Kwandong Freecs not looking bad at all, Hanwha have so far confirmed their role as a big playoff contender.

However, the Kwandong players were not completely out of options before the series. Their eventual success could have gained them the needed peace of mind in the fight for the last playoff spot.

But Hanwha Life lived up to expectations and confirmed their role as favourites in a very evenly matched series. Hanwha’s upward trend is reflected in the current table – three teams have the same 6-4 score. Hanwha Life also has a better win ratio (+5) than the currently struggling T1 (+3). The team thus shares third place with Dplus KIA.

Hanwha have an important week ahead of them. Especially the series with KT could be a great starter, a chance to give birth to a big surprise and improve their position for the playoffs.
