Greenwood’s fate is sealed at Manchester United. He is going to Italy to restart his career

One of Manchester United’s biggest talents in recent times, Mason Greenwood, will join Atalanta, according to the English media. The English striker is thus going away to restart his career after big problems and a long break.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils management informed the public that a decision over his future fate will be made at the end of this month. But on Friday, English servers began publishing reports that the 21-year-old striker is headed to Italy.

The Atalanta BC News server then came up with the more accurate information that Greenwood has rejected Juventus and will join Atalanta, with whom he has agreed terms and is expected to arrive in Bergamo on Tuesday.

Moreover, this move fits in perfectly as there have been rumours for some time now that Manchester United are in the running for Rasmussen Hojlund. Thus, Greenwood would be a great patch as he was an excellent goalscorer before the incident occurred and was definitely a force to be reckoned with for the future at Old Trafford.

Greenwood last played in the 2021/22 season and that was only until February. At such a young age, the 181cm tall striker already had 129 games in a Red Devils jersey and 35 goals scored. He even made his debut for the England national team.

The Bradford native could thus be a great reinforcement for Atalanta and for him, Bergamo could also be the perfect place for a reboot. We are talking about a versatile player who has no problem with his “weaker” right foot.

However, the question remains what the break, which was certainly not short and in years when you need to play as much as possible, has done to him. That’s one big question mark that we’ll know the answer to as the season progresses, if indeed Greenwood is reintegrated into some sort of team again, whether in Atalanta or elsewhere.

Above all, the question will be whether the English striker will go to Italy only on loan or whether it will be a transfer with an option to buy. That being said, Greenwood is a great talent, if he fulfills his potential, we are talking about a top footballer that Manchester United will not want to let get away.

Therefore, some sort of clause in his contract about a possible buy-back is a possibility. However, the players at Manchester United were particularly vocal against his continuation, hence his departure was expected.

They say that time heals everything. Whether that will be enough for a possible return to Old Trafford in a few years’ time remains to be seen.
