Wednesday was a successful day for Czech footballers abroad. Adam Hložek scored a goal for Bochum, but before him Václav Černý scored for Twente, who equalised 2:2 against Vitesse. And it was a really good goal.
In the eighteenth round, Twente travelled to Arnhem with two Czech players to face VItesse, who are not doing well in the current season.
The visitors took the lead when thirty-three year old Ricky van Wolfswinkel scored from a penalty kick. However, young Gabriel Vidovic equalised in the first half.
However, the score was turned around in the 52nd minute when Slovakian Matúš Bero scored and Twente had to work hard. And after less than an hour, the partial goal came true.
Michel Vlap headed just wide of the post after a good centre, but then the ball went to Vaclav Cerny, who sent in a great shot from an angle to surprise the home goalkeeper.
He followed up his goal against Utrecht, which Twente won 2-0. But back to the Vitesse clash, where another twist almost happened.
In the 91st minute, van Wolfswinkel got the ball into the net and there was a big celebration, which was then ruined by VAR, which found an offside, and the match ended 2:2.
Twente remain in fourth place, with the same number of points as third-placed PSV, who fell to Emmen. Fifth-placed Ajax are two points behind, but have a game in hand.
Michal Sadilek did not play in the match, as he spent the whole game on the substitutes’ bench.
