The highlight of Friday’s football programme will be the clash between Manchester City and Arsenal in the FA Cup. What to expect from the confrontation of the second and the first team of the Premier League table and what to bet on?

Manchester City is not as sovereign as expected with the arrival of Erling Haaland. From the second place of the table, they are already five points behind the leaders Arsenal, plus they have one more round played. After the Qatar break, they have already lost five league points.

The Gunners, on the other hand, have only lost eight points overall so far, two since Christmas for their draw with Newcastle. They have beaten Tottenham 2-0 and Manchester United 3-2 in their last two games. They are ahead by the aforementioned five points with a game to spare.

Manchester City’s key figures

Erling Haaland improved his numbers again with a weekend hat-trick, he is currently on 31 goals scored and three assists. On the right side of the defence, youthful full-back Rico Lewis shines, having made one appearance for the A-team so far.

Arsenal’s key figures

It’s hard to single out individuals in the Arsenal team. Offensive midfielder Martin Odegaard has netted eight goals and assisted six times, while striker Eddie Nketiah is also rising, currently on nine goals and one assist.

The home side rely on a goal scoring attack, with 53 shots they have clearly the best offensive line in the Premier League, plus they score an average of 2.25 goals per game. Last time out for Wolverhampton, they were beaten 3-0 at home.

On the other hand, the Gunners are held by their defence. With 16 goals conceded, they have it second best after the incredible Newcastle. They have kept zero in three of their last four games, two of them against Tottenham and a rampant Newcastle.

Given the expected rotation of the squads on both sides and the associated wider Citizens squad, I think Manchester will win at home and go through to the quarter-finals.
