Harrison Ashby, who was brought up for big football mainly by West Ham, where a couple of our national team players work, is moving to Newcastle, where he will expand the ranks of the newly built team. However, the talented Scotsman started for just 6 minutes against Arsenal in the Premier League, so can he make this big move of a lifetime?

Ashby had been at West Ham for a few years until now, where he worked his way up through the youth teams. He has even made a few appearances for the A-team, specifically being given the opportunity seven times.

The twenty-one year old native of Milton Keynes, England is a modern day wing-back who is both quick and comfortable on the ball. On several occasions we could see him at right-back.

In 41 starts for West Ham U21 he has collected 3 goals and 10 assists, which the previous words only prove. He should fit in well with Eddie Howe’s newly built team.

He will be competing with the trio of Kieran Trippier (32 years old), Emil Krafth (28 years old) and Javier Manquillo (28 years old). So he will be a much-needed refreshment for Newcastle, of course only if he can handle the transition to the Premier League.

From stagnant West Ham to shining Newcastle

Newcastle, who are currently in third place in the English top flight and fighting for the English League Cup final, paid €3.4 million for the Scottish midfielder.

You can check out Kev Lawson’s post below, whom Ashby reminds of the experienced English midfielder currently with the Magpies.

In general, the Magpies’ new signing is being talked about as a very hard working player who is very honest in his back play, but at the same time tirelessly supports the attack.

He has been plagued by injuries this season so he will probably get into form gradually, of course he will also need time to acclimatise. However, Newcastle are now riding a wave of euphoria and if he rides it and confirms his qualities, Howe has great reinforcements for many years to come.
