Italian club Juventus Turin has parted ways with Pavel Nedved, the former midfielder and later vice-president of the club, who resigned last November. What did Nedved say about the football giant?

Juventus was still being investigated for falsifying accounts as recently as last year, specifically fourteen people in the club’s management were investigated.

One of these men was Pavel Nedved, a legend of Czech football and the Italian big club, in whose jersey he won the Ballon d’Or and more than one team trophy. Moreover, he remained with the team after the corruption scandal that saw Juventus relegated to the second division.

Nedved and co. faced suspicions of taking commissions from footballers’ transfers and reporting false profits to investors between 2018 and 2020. This, of course, affected the running of the entire club, which has been in crisis for the past few seasons.

And as a result, the entire Juventus board, including Nedved and former chairman Andrea Agnelli, resigned earlier in November. And that just took effect today, and therefore on Wednesday 18 January.

It should be noted, the president after this case was Italian businessman Gianluca Ferrero, who from the beginning wanted to replace Nedved as vice-president with another legend. Alessandro Del Piero.

Nedved’s statement

Thus, on Wednesday 18 January, a meeting of Juventus shareholders was held, at which, among other things, the shape of the new board of directors was to be presented.

“I consider it my duty to thank and greet you all. When I arrived in 2001, I was able to understand this club thanks to the directors and my teammates. It has been an honour to represent Juventus on and off the pitch,” Nedved said at the shareholders’ meeting.

“I have learned a lot here. I’m really proud to be vice-president. I could never do this job without passion and love. That’s what I felt from my first day in Turin until today. Thank you,” he continued.

“Thank you, Mr. President… we have discussed and argued, but we have strengthened our relationship. I know how much you love Juventus, how much you have sacrificed and it has been an honour to work alongside you,” he concluded.
