Barcelona have reached an agreement to sell Memphis Depay to Atlético Madrid. The transfer fee is between 3 and 4 million euros plus possible bonuses. He is expected to travel to Madrid soon for medical tests and sign a contract until June 2025.
the 28-year-old striker has already missed Wednesday’s Barcelona training session. Depay’s contract at Barcelona was due to expire this summer.
The two teams reached an agreement shortly after Barcelona coach Xavi announced that he would talk to Memphis about his future
“I have no news about him. He is a professional and I am happy with him. As always, I’m counting on him. Whether he wants to leave or not. It’s not an easy situation for him. I don’t know if he wants to leave. I will discuss it with him,” revealed the Barcelona manager.
The transfer was first reported by Fabrizio Romano and is expected to be finalised and officially confirmed soon. Depay has scored one goal in four games for Barcelona this season.
Memphis was interested in leaving Barcelona six months ago, but rejected deals to move to Newcastle and Galatasaray last summer.
Barcelona will play AD Ceuta in the Copa del Rey semi-finals on Thursday night. The former Manchester United or Lyon striker is no longer on the nomination list for the match.
The Dutch international is likely to get much more playing time at the Rojiblancos than at Barcelona, especially after the transfer of Joao Felix to Chelsea.
