Will we see a rematch with Pest in KSW? I don’t have the slightest problem with it, said Martinek
Due to a hand injury, Michal Martinek will unfortunately not be at the KSW event in Liberec in February, but we could see an interesting Czech fight in the future. Viktor Pest has joined the Polish organization, so maybe there will be a rematch.
Due to a hand injury, Michal Martinek will unfortunately not be at the KSW event in Liberec in February, but we could see an interesting Czech fight in the future. Viktor Pest has joined the Polish organization, so maybe there will be a rematch.
Michal Martínek was supposed to be one of the biggest draws of the February KSW tournament in Liberec. It will be the first time that the Polish organization will head to the Czech Republic, but the local heavyweight will not be there.
He injured his hand and had to apologize, but the organization resolved it rather quickly and found a more than full-fledged replacement for him, with Viktor Pest coming to KSW.
Fans immediately started speculating that they could cut it together in the future and give the expected rematch of the fight that took place at the end of 2019.
Back then, Martinek won due to an injury to his opponent in the first round, so it would definitely be interesting to see that fight again. Speculation has reached the fighters and Martinek was quick to respond.
“A bunch of people have been texting me about Viktor. I’m not going anywhere else. If he gets into the top 3, we’ll close that chapter once and for all.
I don’t have the slightest problem with that. If he chooses this path, I understand it,” he said on his Instagram. So KSW would be foolish not to make this fight.
So if Pest manages to beat an as yet unannounced opponent in Liberec, Martinek could be amenable to a rematch.
