Manchester United is the only English team that is 100 per cent through all competitions after Christmas. They have progressed in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, and are already fourth in the league, just four points off second placed Manchester City.

Citizens are not in that phase. They lost in the league for a needless draw with Everton, they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by the last Premier League team Southampton. They are five points behind second-placed Arsenal.

United’s key figures

England international striker Marcus Rashford is having an excellent season, assisting eight times in addition to his 15 goals. Summer signing from Real Madrid Casemiro shines in midfield, scoring two goals and assisting three times in addition to a 100 percent defensive performance.

Key figures of the Citizens

The visitors stand on the goals of Norwegian hitman Erling Haaland, with an incredible 27 goals to his name, plus three assists. Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has split the net three times and has assisted on 15 goals.

The Red Devils are benefiting from a goal-scoring offensive. They have scored more than twice in four of their last five games. Despite the first part of the season not going well, they still have the second worst attack in the first half of the table after Chelsea.

Even the Citizens are firing. They have struck more than once in four of their last seven games. Overall, they clearly have the best offense in the Premier League, scoring 45 times already. They scored four goals against Chelsea last weekend.

Considering the Citizens’ rangy attack led by Haaland, as well as Manchester’s defense, which has been working lately but is prone to mistakes in big games, I think the visitors will win the derby.
