On Sunday, one of the two Premier League showpiece matches is on the schedule. While on Saturday fans are looking forward to the Manchester United vs. Manchester City match, a day later the North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal is on the agenda from 17:30.

Is it finally the year? After years of hardship and title dreams, Arsenal are having a great run. They have lost only one of their 17 games, drawn only twice and are now top of the Premier League with 44 points.

They are five points clear of defending champions Manchester City in second place. But now Arsenal face a real test.

First, on Sunday, it will challenge Tottenham in the derby, and a week later it will face a spirited Manchester United at home. And to make it complete, they then face Manchester City in the 1/16 FA Cup final.

Arsenal may be in a privileged position, but the final judgements are still very far away. With 21 games left to play in the league, we’re not even halfway through. In addition, the Gunners will face Manchester City in a few rounds.

So they will have to stay in the most ideal position until February 15. But the next two rounds can make a big difference to the table.

But now everyone at Arsenal is thinking about the next game. They managed to beat the hated Tottenham in the autumn with a 3:1 result, but they don’t have the best memories of last season.

Almost at the end of the season Tottenham beat the Gunners 3: 0 at their ground and virtually secured a place in the Top 4 and the Champions League, while Arsenal dropped to fifth place.

Moreover, Arsenal’s away games in the North London derby are not going well at all. They haven’t won at Tottenham’s new stadium yet, nor have they done well before at Wembley or White Hart Lane. Arsenal’s last derby win at Tottenham dates back to 2015.

And that was back in the EFL Cup. Arsenal’s last league win at Tottenham was in March 2014 and the only goal scored then was by Tomas Rosicky.
