At the end of last year, it was clear. Cristiano Ronaldo is officially a player of the Al-Nassr team from Saudi Arabia. His coach, however, jokingly said that before this arrival he wanted to arrange the transfer of Lionel Messi.
After ending up at Manchester United, there was speculation about where Cristiano Ronaldo would head. Many believed in a return to Portugal, however, it ended up being an engagement in Saudi Arabia.
Previously one of the best footballers in the world will be playing for Al-Nassr, who currently lead the local league and plan to win it.
Al-Nassr is led by coach Rudi García, who didn’t forget to joke after Ronaldo joined his team. According to him, he wanted to bring Lionel Messi first.
“I tried to bring Messi directly from Doha,” he told a press conference. That possibility has probably fallen by the wayside thanks to Argentina’s success at the World Cup.
But the Saudi Arabian team has no intention of stopping its reinforcements. According to the latest speculations, they should also focus on Sergio Ramos.
However, it has other stars in its sights, which might have been the lure for Ronaldo in his arrival. So we can look forward to a further rise in local football in the coming years.
