Laporta: The main goal is to win La Liga. The main objective is to win Laporte

Barcelona was in a huge crisis last summer. The club’s crazy accounting had caught up with it, debts were huge and captain Lionel Messi had to leave because there was simply no money for him.
In the first year without Messi, Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League and at one point were up to sixteen points behind Real Madrid. President Joan Laporta took over the club in the winter and is doing everything he can to get the club back to the top.
So he sold off several club items to make room for reinforcements. In the summer, Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Raphinha, Franck Kessié, Andreas Christensen, Hector Bellerín and Marcos Alonso arrived at Camp Nou.
But it didn’t help on European soil, and Barcelona again crashed out of the Champions League in the group stage. They will only play in the Europa League in the spring.
No wonder the Catalans want to focus on the domestic La Liga. There, they lost El Clásico to Real Madrid, but the rivals from the capital lost to the outsiders and Barcelona lead the league by two points.
“The priority goal is to win La Liga. Clear and concise. The cabinet, led by Xavi, is clear on that. We want to win La Liga to give proof that the club’s recuperation process is on track,” said club president Joan Laporta on Barca TV.
A big test awaits the Culés as soon as they return to club football. Barcelona will first face a derby with Espanyol and then a duel with Atlético Madrid. After that comes the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup with Betis and in neither of those games will they have Robert Lewandowski, who received a three-match ban for a red card.
