The Thai Grand Prix was the seventeenth round of this year’s MotoGP season, with three races left to go! The results in Thailand have made the title fight much more dramatic. However, the start was delayed by almost an hour due to bad weather. In difficult conditions, Portugal’s Oliveira won.

In Thailand, the weather was very bad before the start of the race, so the start of this Grand Prix was postponed. Despite the original plan, namely to start at 10::00 our time, the pit lane did not open until 10::35 and the race was started shortly before 11:00.

For the first time in his career, Marco Bezzecchi started from pole position and held on to first place even after all the lights went out. Second and third positions were then taken by Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller on the Ducati.

On the other hand, reigning World Champion Fabio Quartararo dropped out of the points.

Bezzecchi’s lead didn’t last long, however, as he received a penalty for exceeding the track limits on the second lap. This put Miller in the lead, chased by Bagnaia, Oliveira and Marini.

But fourth Luca Marini, Bezzecchi’s teammate, soon fell back. He was then able to finish the Thai Grand Prix, but with a significant two-lap deficit to the winner.

Later on, the legendary Marc Márquez moved into the Top 5. Portugal’s Oliveira continued his great ride, first getting ahead of Italian Bagnaia and later on overtaking leader Miller.

From the eighth to the fifteenth lap, the fans watched some great battles for the top spot. Oliveira captured it at the start of lap fifteen when he passed Miller in the start/finish area.

Then, as you can also see in the attached Twitter post above, the track conditions were not ideal due to the wet conditions. In addition to Bezzecchi, Aleix Espargaro also received a long-sheet penalty for his incident with Binder at the start of the Thai Grand Prix.

Oliveira, Miller, Bagnaia, Marc Márquez, Zarco, Alex Márquez, Bastianini, Martin, Morbidelli, Viñales – this is how the order of the elite ten looked after 18 laps of the Thai Grand Prix.

At that time, Aleix Espargaro was in eleventh place, while the Frenchman Quartararo was seventeenth. In the final laps, fans watched a dramatic battle for the podium between Bagnaia, Zarco and Marc Márquez.

However, the order of the top five was unchanged by the finish of the Thai Grand Prix. Enea Bastianini finished sixth, Viñales seventh, Alex Márquez eighth, Martin ninth and Binder tenth. Franco Morbidelli eventually crossed the line in 13th, with Quartararo not even scoring any points.

The overall standings of the Thailand Grand Prix can be seen below.

And what did the Thai Grand Prix do to the drivers’ championship standings? The lead is still held by reigning champion Quartararo, but with only a two-point lead over second-placed Bagnaiu. Aleix Espargaro is third with 20 points behind, Bastianini fourth and Miller fifth.

The last three races of this season will offer the fans a lot of drama as several drivers are still involved in the battle for the title.
