Have you ever seen a tennis final with two 6-0 scores? Brenda Fruhvirt wins another ITF title!
A week ago we wrote about the fact that the younger of the Fruhvirt sisters has been under scrutiny in the world for the past few weeks and that she is being described as a literal miracle child. After another week and another tournament, the admiration doesn’t stop, quite the opposite.
A week ago we wrote about the fact that the younger of the Fruhvirt sisters has been under scrutiny in the world for the past few weeks and that she is being described as a literal miracle child. After another week and another tournament, the admiration doesn’t stop, quite the opposite. Brenda participated in another clay ITF tournament, this time in Mogyorod, Hungary. At this level, she seems to have no competition.
Let’s take a look at some stats from the last three events the Czech comet has participated in. The first one took place between 22 and 26 June. Brenda beat all 5 opponents, including two of her compatriots. In the final, she beat Bayerlova twice 7:5.
She didn’t lose a single set in the whole tournament. That means she played ten sets. Twice Brenda gave her opponents a canary and three times she won a set 6:1. The next event was in Danderyd, Sweden. Again the title, this time with a one set loss in the semifinals.
So she played eleven sets this time. Again, twice 6: 0. The Czech even scored 6: 1 five times. This brings us to the most recent title, which Brenda celebrated yesterday, 21.8. in Hungary. She dominated the whole event without losing a single set. The dominance with which Brenda is destroying her opponents is unbelievable.
Interestingly, apart from the final, all the second sets in the individual matches were identical 6:1. And the final? That’s a story in itself. It’s not often, almost never, that a meeting between two finalists, two players with the best current form in the tournament, ends with 6:0 and 6:0.
That’s exactly what the incredible and talented Czech did. She literally destroyed her German opponent with an easy-to-remember name, Luisa Meyer Auf Der Heide.
Brenda is still skyrocketing up the rankings and should be able to qualify for the adult US Open. If things go well, we’ll see both of the sisters, and the older Linda, in that qualifier.
