The Czech driver took the first pole position of his career in Friday’s qualifying, which determined the order for the start of Sunday’s main race.
Immediately after the start, however, Stanek took a defensive track, as Victor Martins made an excellent start and took the lead in the first corner.
And he held the lead until the end. You can see the top ten drivers at the finish of the Spanish Grand Prix in the above Twitter post.
It’s fair to say Martins controlled the entire race, and he did so expertly. Stanek was not helped by two restarts of the race due to two crashes.
Firstly, there was a mutual contact between Rafael Villagómez and Kush Maini, and then Brad Benavides collided with the wall in the middle of the race. Moreover, after the second restart, Isack Hadjar pressured Stanek from third place.
Martins immediately built up a good lead and eventually took his second win of the season (F3 has only run three races so far – ed.).
However, Staněk successfully held on to second place. After three races, Formula 3 has two winners. Now and in the opening race of the season in Bahrain, Martins came first, while Stanek won in Imola.
The native of Wallachian Mezirici also holds the same position in the drivers’ championship thanks to the important points for second place.
