German tennis player Alexander Zverev lost his temper at the Acapulco tournament and attacked the umpire in a fit of rage. Now he knows his punishment. If he commits another offence, he faces a suspension.
Alexander Zverev’s behaviour at the tournament in Mexico two weeks ago was absolutely unacceptable. The 24-year-old German couldn’t take the defeat in doubles and threatened the referee with his anger.
Zverev hit the umpire with his racket, then verbally attacked the umpire by hurling insults and vulgar language at him. The very next day, he publicly poured ashes on his head for his behaviour.
The German tennis player was disqualified from the tournament because of his inappropriate behaviour. In addition, he lost all the ranking points and $32,000 in bonuses he had won in Acapulco. In addition, he was fined 40 thousand dollars.
Now he knows the punishment that the ATP gave him. He was given a one-year probation, which expires on February 22, 2023. If it is violated, Zverev will face a two-month suspension and will have to pay a fine of $25 thousand.
Zverev is currently number three in the ATP world rankings, at 24 years old he should set an example not only with his game but also with his behaviour.
