The next edition of the popular Tournament of Champions, which always qualifies the eight most successful tennis players of the past year, starts on Sunday afternoon. In the evening we can look forward to the match between Zverev and Berretti. Who will be the winner?
Alexander Zverev is a 24-year-old tennis player originally from Germany. He is currently ranked third in the ATP rankings. Given the dominance of Novak Djokovic and the great performance of Daniil Medvedev, this is also his career high.
This season, Zverev has already played 63 matches, of which he managed to win 49. The world number three has managed to dominate tournaments in Acapulco, Madrid, Cincinnati and Vienna. He also added a gold medal from the Olympic Games.
His first opponent at the Tournament of Champions in the Red Group will be Matteo Berrettini, who will benefit from the support of the home crowd. The 25-year-old Italian is currently seventh in the ATP rankings.
Matteo Berrettini has also had a relatively successful season. First, he managed to win the tournament in Belgrade played on clay, after which he added a triumph also in London, where it was played on grass.
The two players have played four duels so far. Matteo Berrettini has only been able to win once, in the other three cases he played only one set. A similar result is therefore expected now.
So what to bet on? The clear favourite for Sunday’s contest is Alexander Zverev, who has lost only once in his last nine indoor matches (to Daniil Medvedev). The odds on his victory are 1.37.
