Big changes, two new races! This is the Moto GP calendar for the 2022 season

Published! The Moto GP calendar for the 2022 season has finally seen the light of day. Two very interesting destinations await us, and compared to this year, Moto GP management is planning three more races. Which grand prix are you most looking forward to?

The new Moto GP season will kick off on March 6th with a race in Qatar. However, the Losail International Circuit, as the official name of the circuit is, will no longer host only Moto GP races. From 2023, it will also host Formula 1.

And a fortnight later, there’s a whole new thing! The Indonesian Grand Prix is now on the calendar. The race track in Mandalay has all the aspects of an urban circuit, which is truly unprecedented in the world of Moto GP.

After two years, the Argentine Grand Prix returns. This is because it has been cancelled in 2020 and 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Seven days after that, we’ll move north from South America for the US Grand Prix.

For the first time on the European continent, we will see Moto GP teams racing on April 24 on the occasion of the Portuguese Grand Prix, of course at the Algarve circuit. After that, on May 1, it’s Spain (Jerez), followed two weeks later by France (Le Mans) and at the end of May the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello is on the agenda.

On the fifth of June, fans will be treated to a race in Catalonia and on the 19th of June, Marc Márquez’s favourite track. Yes, you guessed it – it’s the German Grand Prix at the famous Sachsenring.

The busy schedule continues with a race in the Netherlands (Assen circuit – ed.) and before the big summer break, we have a second new event – finally we will be going to Finland!

This grand prix should have been on the calendar not only for this year, but also for the previous year. However, due to Covid-19 and travel restrictions, the premiere Finnish Grand Prix was unfortunately not possible.

After the summer break, a race weekend at Silverstone is scheduled for August 5-7. From the UK, the teams will move to Austria where we will be racing at the Red Bull Ring on the twenty-first of August.

The third and final part of the season will then be very busy. 4. we will be in San Marino (Misano circuit) on September 18th, we will see you in Aragon on the 18th, and on September 25th we will visit the Asian continent for the Japanese Grand Prix (Motegi).

Expect a similarly extensive programme in October – we’ll be racing in Thailand on the second (Chang International Circuit), Australia on the 16th (Phillip Island) and a week later at the legendary Sepang circuit. The Malaysian Grand Prix is especially famous in the world of Formula 1.

The 2022 season will conclude with the Valencia Grand Prix, and the name of the new world champion will be announced on 6 November.

The calendar for the new season looks very interesting. And although these are provisional plans for now, let’s hope there are no major changes.
