On Saturday morning, tennis fans can look forward to the quarterfinal match between John Isner and Gael Monfils. Who will enjoy advancing to the semi-finals of the Rogers Cup?
John Isner celebrated his 36th birthday in April this year, but he continues to be one of the best tennis players in the world. The American currently ranks 30th on the ATP rankings and will improve his position on Monday.
The former world number eight has been in great form in recent weeks. He reached the semi-finals in Los Cabos, dominated the event in Atlanta and in Toronto he took on Davidovich, Fokina, Garin and Rublev.
His opponent on Saturday will be Gael Monfils, who is only two years younger. The French tennis player is ranked 22nd on the ATP rankings, but would move up to 14th if he were to capture the Rogers Cup.
On the Canadian concrete, Monfils first knocked out John Millman, after which he scored the scalp of Frances Tiafoe. So the battle with Isner will undoubtedly be his toughest test yet.
What to bet on? John Isner is the paper favourite for Saturday’s contest and he can rely on his great serve. It would be hard to find a player with a better serve on the ATP circuit.
